Voisinage

On dit qu'une partie $V$ d'un espace vectoriel normé $E$ (ou plus généralement d'un espace métrique $E$) est un voisinage d'un point $a$ de $E$ s'il existe un réel $r>0$ tel que la boule ouverte de centre $a$ et de rayon $r$ soit contenue dans $V$. Autrement dit, $V$ est un voisinage de $a$ si tous les points très proches de $a$ sont dans $V$.

Plus généralement, dans un espace topologique $E$, une partie $V$ de $E$ est un voisinage de $a\in E$ s'il existe un ouvert $U$ de $E$ contenant $a$ tel que $U\subset V$.

En utilisant les propriétés des ouverts des espaces métriques (resp. des espaces topologiques), on prouve qu'une réunion quelconque de voisinages de $a$ est un voisinage de $a,$ alors qu'une intersection finie de voisinages de $a$ est un voisinage de $a.$
